Brightening a cloudy day

How? With a touch of yellow as a Sun, pink as a flower, orange as a fruit...
Implement those colors in a wall calender that can do instead of fine art. Cushions are well known easy way to change the look. But my favorite advice that'll save money in your pocket is to rearrange your books to a unusual place. You can see what I did with two books of mine. Vase with flowers on the top works great specially if they in the same color scheme.
It's not late to buy a calendar. Look at this one, simple and beautiful. Work of Caroly Cochrane. You can buy it here
Quick peek at Carolyn's work. A great photographer. So sensitive and light... I like it a lot.

Hobbit house

A place from fairy tale. They choose to live that fairy tale and show us that everything is possible. My bow to Mr and Mrs Dale, Simon and Jasmine.
The best is to leave you to get inspired by this photos and invite you to visit www.simondale.net .

Let me know if you did (or when you do) something similar.

Teething wakes Zen

It's hard to image that teething from a one year old child can bring you serenity (and Zen inspired home). But it's true! Of course there's a way to get to this.

I won't describe how can child be nervous and how long can mother carry her baby in arms (mothers knows it best), but I'm mentioning this because that's what precedes whole Zen experience. So, after whole morning of carrying my one year old boy I recall a FB profile photo of my friend coming from massage in a cope (thinking, boy I need a massage). Then it triggers me! I put on a relaxing music, meditation CD, turn off TV, light candles and aroma lamp, start to breathe deeper and let go "to do" list from my head. Five minutes after that (carrying is still on), Roko fall asleep.

The point is that your home decoration is not enough to fell Zen. You have to be calm and relaxed to feel it. Make a mood for it (do as I did with a music, candles or aroma lamps), with some pictures or quotes on the wall that will occasionally remind you to keep calm.

Thanks God for teething! ;-)

One for winter lovers

I love when it's snowing. I feel joy like a child just by watching snowflakes. And in the same time it's so relaxing. It's like a rejuvenation for my soul. I could be transported to a cottage somewhere in the mountain and spent a month there. Highlight would be to see Aurora borealis and to try dog-sledding. (two of my wanna do wish list)

But do the people who live in a cold area feel the same? Or do they take it for granted, or even hate it!? I would like to know.
Either way, this one is for winter lovers...

Photo of the day

This is how it looks like now in Zagreb. It was snowing for two days and it's expected to be more.
This photo is taken by my dear friend, photographer Mirko Janković.
Whole snowing atmosphere gives me that special cozy at home mood and few inspirations that I'll share with you.

But photo first!
Thanks Mirko!

Piano like (change the view)

Lucky me! My first neighbor is playing a piano, few times a day, nicely. He's not learning it, he knows it well. :) And I enjoy it.
If you are also a fan of piano, but don't know how to play it, and don't want to disturb your neighbors with a false notes, maybe this interesting idea is for you!
